OFFICIALLY OPEN: An exercise area with fixed outdoor gym equipment has transformed a public open space in Reebok into an area of pride where young and old can flex their muscles.
On Tuesday, September 17 Mossel Bay’s Executive Mayor Alderman Harry Levendal lauded the Ward Committee and Counselor Anton Dellemijn for their initiative to have an outdoor gym with approximately 700 meters of walkway and several exercise stations established on what was once merely an open space.
“The intellectual capital of the members of the Ward Committee, the Ratepayers Association and the councilor has paid off handsomely. The value of the community attending the Integrated Development Plan (IDP) meetings has again been underscored.
Each year, the respective wards receive a set amount from the mayor’s office to be used for ward-specific priorities. Today we officially open the outdoor exercise area knowing that young and old will benefit from it. An area that was once a headache for the community has been transformed into a welcome asset,” Alderman Levendal said.
